Early life:

Ed Kemper definitely didn’t have a good childhood. His parents were cruel to the extreme. As a punishment Ed’s mother once made Kemper kill his pet chicken. His father would only make it worse and force him to eat the chicken.

When Kemper was young he already gave hints that the treatment by his parents wasn’t doing any good to him. He would, for example, decapitate his sister’s dolls. After a while dolls weren’t enough and he would take his anger out on animals.

Ed Kemper was a very smart man and at 6’9 he was very intimidating as well. When he was just 15 years old… he killed his grandparents. He first shot his grandmother with a .22-caliber rifle. After she died he would repeatedly stab her dead body with a kitchen knife. When his grandfather came home, Kemper shot him and left his dead body in the garden.

‘I just wondered how it would feel to shoot Grandma.’ is what he told the police when they interrogated him. Kemper got committed to the state’s maximum-security hospital. He got out when he was 21-years-old… Big mistake.

The Killings:

After Kemper was released from the hospital, he and his mother settled in Santa Cruz. Kemper would spend his time on holding odd jobs and cruising on the highway picking up hitchhikers…

May 7, 1972 – Two 18-year-old girls. He stabbed both of them to death, then he took their bodies home and hid them in his room. Kemper took photos of the bodies, dissected them and sexually assaulted then. He then buried the remains.

September 4, 1972 – A 15-year-old girl. He suffocated her with his hand and then sexually assaulted the corpse and took it back home for dissection.

January 5, 1973 – A 23-year-old and another hitchhiker. He shot them both to death in the car and  later on decapitated the bodies. After that he raped the bodies.

On Easter weekend, Kemper decided to kill his mother. He took a hammer and started smashing her skull while she was asleep. He then decapitated her and sexually assaulted the head. Ed wasn’t done there… After he killed his mother, he called a family friend and incited her over. When she arrived Kemper strangled her and then decapitated her.

After this happened, Ed Kemper started driving with no destination in mind. He got to Colorado. He called the police and turned himself in.

Ed Kemper was sentenced to life imprisonment. Ed Kemper is still in jail to this day. He is now 67-years-old.

Quotes:
‘I remember there was actually a sexual thrill . . . you hear that little pop and pull their heads of and hold their heads up by the hair. Whipping their heads off, their body sitting there. That'd get me off.’

'One side of me says ‘I’d like to talk to her, date her.’ The other side of me says, ‘I wonder what her head would look like on a stick.’’

’I just wanted to see what it felt like to shoot grandma.’

The first good-looking girl I see tonight is going to die.

With a girl, there’s a lot left in the girl’s body without a head. Of course, the personality is gone.
